First Song Release & What's Next 🧐

Hi allΒ πŸ˜ƒ

What a month. I managed to do plenty and also not feel like I've done much all at the same time πŸ˜‚ one thing I am proud of though is the fact that I finally did it -- I submitted my song to Distrokid to be uploaded to all of the major streaming platforms! 🍻

The song ("Don't Know What to Say") will be available on streaming platforms on March 31, 2022, and I am excited! This has been a moment I've been waiting for years to see come to fruition.

Originally, I was slated to release this song weeks ago but after meeting with Dan (a music producer), I realized I could do better, so I pushed the track release to March 24, 2022...I rerecorded vocals and started trying to move things around in the production phase mixing my work. I felt sure that I was at my limit so I submitted my work and thought I was done...

Then after meeting with Dan one more time, he gave me a key pointer that pushed me to dig deeper and apply myself to really sketch out the vocal production for this song...leading me to postpone an extra week to March 31st. Now, I am done πŸ˜‚ I'm sure I could get a few more pointers as I know it's not perfect but I am at peace with that.

  • I need to move forward and perhaps later when I've become a better mixer I can take another look at "Don't Know What to Say" and really add a little more shine to get it to another level.

Fun fact:Β "Don't Know What to Say"Β is loosely based on the alternate reality where my wife (Callie) doesn't respond to my text formally asking her on a dateΒ (yes I know -- super confident move πŸ˜‚) so I'm left not knowing how to proceed with future interactions.

What's Next?

The past week off from work gave me time to reflect on what I need to do moving forward in regards to Just Your Frequency.

Truthfully, I want to do nothing but start churning out songs and creating content to show the world my work. However, I realized in working on this past song and reading a book ("The Art of Mixing" -- Thanks Dan!) that I have much to learn to start to compete with the pro players of the music world.

  • For instance, one of my goals moving forward is to get involved in other ventures such as submitting my material for sync opportunities (Film and TV) and listening to some of the successful folks in that area, I have work to do.

Currently, my goal for the next 4 weeks is to work on creating a song per week to mix and master to pitch for sync and organize my DAW to rid myself of sounds I probably won't think twice to use moving forward.Β

  • Also, I want to start transitioning from Studio One as my main DAW to Ableton Live, so I've got my work cut out for me to start the switch.

Okay, cool...but are you going to release any more songs?

I am absolutely going to try and do so in the next month! 🀠

I have another work mostly done called "Shadows" that I'm very excited to show you all the moment it is ready. I'm hoping to have it ready by the end of April if not May depending on how things go this next month.

Thanks for taking a moment to read this and sending good vibes to you!

Cheers 🍻
